The following resources and files are available for students to download and use for the course of their study with Distance Education. The links provided are to the website which will allow you to download the suitable files for your computer specifications.

A screen capture program that allows you to capture specific parts of your computer display.

Adobe Reader

Software that allows you to read pdf files.

Audacity

Software that allows you to record and edit sound/audio files. The files can then be sent to your teacher.

Freemind

A mind mapping program that helps you to plan.

Java

A plug-in that is used to open applications and simulations. Your computer will probably ask for this software when you try to open a file that requires it.

Powerpoint Viewer

Allows you to view PowerPoint presentations when you do not have PowerPoint on your computer.

Quicktime

Software that allows you to view movies. We advise that you use the file association (MIME) settings to allow only this program for Quicktim movies and pictures (MOOV & PICT)

Real Alternative

An alternative to RealPlayer for playing audio and sound files.

The File Splitter

If a file you want to send to your teacher in an email is too big to send (eg. bigger than 1MB) use this program to split the file into lots of little files to send in lots of separate e-mail attachments.
