Overview

The HSIE Department has responsibility for the teaching of the Social Sciences for Years 7 to 12 and for Junior History (Years 7 to 10).

Courses offered in Stage 4 (Years 7 & 8) are Mandatory (World) History and Mandatory (Global) Geography. These courses are taught for five periods per week on a semesterised basis.

In Stage 5 (Years 9 & 10) the HSIE Department offers Mandatory Australian History and Mandatory Australian Geography for two periods per week for each course for two years.

Also available in Years 9 and 10 are the elective courses of Commerce, History and Geography. These courses are for five periods per week and allow full-time and single-course students to undertake further studies in HSIE. Courses can be taken for one or two years (100 or 200 hours).

In Stage 6 (Years 11 & 12) the HSIE course offerings are Economics, Business Studies, Geography, Legal Studies and Work Studies, Modern and Ancient History and Aboriginal Studies.
