Can I get a printout of everything you've got in the Library?
Although it would be great for all our remote students and their families to have such a list, it would be a virtual impossibility due to the size of our massive library data base. What we can do for you is produce a “tailored” list of the resources we have on your favourite subjects or interest areas (eg horses; thinking skills); your preferred authors or illustrators (eg John Marsden or Graeme Base) or a specific medium or format (eg. Software; videos, talking books; posters or magazines).
I am researching a particular topic, I don’t have enough resources in my home and I can’t get to a public library or into our school library and I have a limited time frame. What can I do?
First of all contact us in the library, either by phone, email or filling in a DSODE Library request form found on the back cover of each issue of Keeping In Touch. Tell us about the research task, the deadline for submission of your presentation and any other deadlines, eg. last possible mailing date; for travellers, your next post office pick up point; the leaflet or assessment task it is linked to; your teacher’s name.
The library will do any or all of the following:
· If any appropriate resources are available we will either post them in the next possible mail out;
· Fax relevant material if you have a fax number and the format suits faxing;
· Get your teacher to contact you with further advice about your options and any resources they fell you would have easy access to;
· Contact you (where possible) with advice re varying your topic areas or search parameters or refer you to the Curriculum Links on the DSODE library’s web site.
