Hours
DSODE Library is open between the hours of 8.30 am and 3.30 pm daily during the school year. Requests for resources or other assistance can be made by phone or in person during these hours.
Students are also always welcome to study in the library during this time (depending on availablility of room and equipment). As well as being a place to study or select resources, the library also provides computers, videoplayers and Internet Access for staff and student usage. The library staff can also assist with research and study skills during these hours.
How to borrow, return or renew library resources
While there is no actual limit set for the number of resources which may be borrowed at the one time by the one borrower, the library staff may be forced to limit the number of items available to each borrower when certain resources are new, popular, or in high demand due to curriculum needs. At other times, it may also be necessary to limit borrowing privileges if overdue items are consistently not returned.
All members of the DSODE community – staff, full time students, parents, and supervisors – may borrow from the school library, for periods which vary according to the type of resource and the location of the borrower. The print out which accompanies library loans should give the borrower an indication of the due date of return.
Returns can be made in person or by sending them directly to the library. Library materials can also be included in any mail packages being sent to the school. They will then be returned to the library when the computer indicates their location at the point of scanning in the returns of any school resources.
If the resources that are on loan are required for a longer period, simply contact the library by phone, fax, email or mail if the other options are unavailable and request a renewal, ideally before the due date of return. This is usually granted, unless there is a high demand on the item.
